COVID-19 Update 31st October 2020
Following the Prime Minister’s announcement we shall be closing on Thursday 5th November until Wednesday 2nd December. We are awaiting further details but it looks likely that all guests will need to leave by Wednesday 4th November at the latest.
It has been a difficult summer. While we have been busy, we have operated at half occupancy to ensure social distancing and keep everyone safe. This was the right decision but the financial consequences will be felt by ourselves for a long time. The previous three month closure still weighs on us.
So a massive thank you to everyone who came to stay and abided by the many rules we found ourselves living with. And a massive thank you to everyone who has accepted a credit note or postponed their stay; we are very grateful for your understanding. As a small family business we don’t have cash reserves to fall back on and the good will shown to us means we are still here, for which we are immensely thankful.
Again we are doing everything in our power to protect ourselves and our staff so that we stay healthy and are able to open again once this latest crisis has passed. We don’t yet know what form our reopening will take in December. We shall, as usual, wait for guidelines to be issued and update everyone as soon as we can.
We very much hope to see you all soon.
Stay well. Stay safe. Stay home.
With love from everyone here at Sykeside
In the heart of the Dovedale Valley, surrounded by Dove Crag, Hart Crag and Fairfield with Brotherswater nearby, Sykeside is an inspiring location for Lake District camping, offering stunning views wherever you pitch.
We are the perfect spot for walking, whether you fancy a short stroll around Brotherswater or a full day's hike up High Street, as many footpaths leave right from our doorstep. Our central location makes us ideal for exploring the Lake District and Cumbria, whether it be on foot or by car. Alternatively, for those who wish to relax, why not sample a pint or two of local ale at the Brotherswater Inn whilst enjoying the stunning views of Dove Crag.
For brave campers we are open all year round (with the exception of the Christmas period) in all weathers, so why not join us for a spot of ice-climbing or winter walking, or perhaps just relaxing by the fire in the pub!
We are dog friendly, so anyone with four legs is very welcome in the bunkhouse, on the campsite, in the bar and resturant and in the shop. We do, however, ask that dogs are kept on a lead and under control as the local sheep and deer are a little more nervous than ourselves.
The Brotherswater Inn and Sykeside Camping Park are certified as 'We're Good To Go Covid Secure' by Visit England. For more information about our COVID-19 procedures and restrictions on camping and at the Inn please email email@example.com
Broadband is now available free of charge at The Brotherswater Inn and The Barn End Bar. Please ask at the bar or at the campsite shop/reception if you would like to login.
